Surf Check

Man does it look like summer out there- sunny skies finally, a couple 'tropical' clouds floating overhead, small SW swell running, and the W wind is already blowing at 5. The only thing missing is water temps near 75 (it's currently 66), crowded line ups, and girls on the beach. So I guess it's not really like summer- but it sure feels like it.
After the bombing SW this weekend and cloudy skies, we're left today with sun and chest high sets from the SW with a touch of small NW. Looks kind of fun even though it's on the small side.
Currently the tides are -0.5' at sunrise (and with the sun out early this morning, you could have been in the water close to 5am), around 4' at noon, down to 2' at 5pm, and up to 4' at sunset. Pretty mellow tides during the day except for that super low tide 1st thing in the morning.
The weather the next few days looks seasonal- just night and morning low clouds and mostly sunny skies in the afternoons. The clouds should thicken a little more each day as we head towards the weekend but we still should have a shot of sun by the afternoons- nothing as gloomy as it was last week.
As far as the surf goes, it's looking pretty boring. There was a weak storm that formed due S of us last week AND it was moving in an unfavorable E-W direction so the OC may see some waist high+ waves from it late tomorrow. Basically it's just going to keep the waist high+ waves from today rolling.
For San Diego County, we won't see much SW around here for quite some time so we'll be left with NW windswell towards Thursday into Friday. Should be some waist high waves in N county and chest high sets in far S county.
In the long term, next week is looking pretty small- just no real storms in the southern or northern hemispheres on the charts. Basically it's looking flat unless the tropics flare up which is a big favor to ask since it's not even summer yet. But it sure feels like it.
