Some of the world's best have descended on Trestles this week for the Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro. This is a World Championship Tour 'Prime' Event meaning the points these guys earn at the contest translate to their world ranking. So big guns like Slater, CJ, Adriano, Wardo, Bobby, Knox, Cory, Kerr and Damo get to mix it up with upstarts Julian, Kolohe, Nat, John John, Dusty, Tanner, Wilko, Mason, and Alejo. There's only a little southwest swell running but Lowers picks it up like a magnet. What looks knee high around north county SD translates to chest high+ wedgey ramps for the world's best.
What's really interesting about this event is that it marks the return of Dane Reynolds to competitive surfing after knee surgery last year. Whether he pushes his luck and goes all out on his knee waits to be seen but it definitely bares watching. The event runs today through the 7th so make sure to watch a few heats. Since our surf sucks- might as well watch theirs!
