Great southern California day today but no real swell to speak of. Buoys are showing some 1.5' SW swell at 12 seconds from 17 degrees which translates to about waist high waves. There is also some knee high NW that is crossing it up. Best combo spots in far north county SD or the OC may have some rideable waist high peaks with the 4' high tide mid morning. Wind is also non-existent today.
Looks like another hot day on tap with air temps expected to be in the high 80's again. With all the NNE winds we've had lately, the water temps have dropped 5 degrees to get back to the high 50's unfortunately. So we've got air temps near 88 and water temps near 58... what wetsuit do you wear when there's a 30 degree difference?! That starts to change though by Thursday as a weak front passes by to the north and it kicks in our marine layer. By the weekend we should be much cooler with temps only in the mid-60's and low clouds/fog in the mornings and late nights.
The good news is that the low pressure should kick up some winds off central California and we may get a bump Wednesday evening/Thursday morning for chest high sets from the NW. The waist high SW should continue too. So the weather turns to 'May Gray' but we get surf. Guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.
