Clips of the Day: European Vacation
By now you've probably seen footage of Carlos Burle's session at Nazare' in Portugual where he rides a 250' wave or something like that. And Maya Gabeira almost drowns and Laird isn't impressed. But that's not all that went down in Europe during that mega swell. All kinds of spots lit up and videos are starting to appear on the web this week.
Like one of my favorite spots in Ireland, Mullaghmore Head. It's a burly lumpy grumpy left hander and has a ton of water moving. And it's cold. Darn cold. And did I mention it's big and a lot of water was moving on this mega swell? Like a LOT of water. Good times.
And remember Mundaka in Spain? That river mouth left hander that time and the ASP forgot about? Looks like it awoken during that big swell too. Can't really blame the ASP- if it takes a swell of historic proportions to make it come to life- no need in having a 2 week waiting period for the contest if really needs 20 years.
At last but not least- well actually least as the crew at this spot didn't want anything to do with this mutant right barrel- they decided to surf on the shoulder- but it's still fun to look at regardless. We need to get Dorian over to this spot on the next big swell.
