All kinds of funny things going on out there. But no real groundswell to speak of unfortunately. Today was another small day with tiny SW groundswell for waist high sets in the OC and just tiny SW/NW combo down here in SD for knee to waist high waves.
The past week has been that way and it's getting pretty darn boring. Only the extreme tide swings of the past week have been of any excitement. The next few days we've got 6' tides again at dawn, 0' tides after lunch and back up to 4' at sunset. Water is holding at 62 degrees.
As far as the surf goes, we had a little storm last week send a weak pulse of SW swell our way which should be filling in tomorrow- with the OC seeing some waist high+ waves. Not much for SD unfortunately except inconsistent waist high sets in the far north county.
Fear not though San Diego- we have NW windswell on the charts for Thursday that will give us shoulder high sets in north county and head high sets in south county. Finally some rideable waves! Even though it's not real groundswell, I'll take it.
But as luck would have it, models show a small storm spinning in the Pacific tonight which may give us showers late Saturday into Sunday. Look for our nice weather to hold through Thursday, then the low clouds/fog start returning on Friday and then really thicken up for late Saturday into Sunday when the showers arrive.
That same storm fortunately will really kick up our windswell for late Saturday into Sunday and charts show us getting some bumpy head high NW windswell for the weekend. South SD will have overhead sets. Not the best scenario with all the clouds and wind but it will be nice to get some meaty waves finally. That lasts into Monday morning then high pressure sets up for nice weather again towards Tuesday as the north Pacific goes quiet.
And adding to the funky stuff going on in our ocean recently, models show some little spinners in the southern hemisphere towards Wednesday which may give us some waist high waves again towards 11/21.
All in all some little bumps here and there the next few days from the SW/NW and maybe some showers this weekend.
