Clip of the Day: US Open Of Surfing Super Heat

Solid day of surfing today at the US Open in HB. As a kid I loved the event- the world's best down the street from me, girls, the surf industry giving away lots of free stuff, girls, the amphitheatre known as the Huntington Pier, girls, and some of the best small wave surfing I've ever seen. And did I mention the girls? Nothing has changed since the OP Pro days of the 80's as Kelly, Dane, Julian, Kolohe, the Gudangs, Kerr, John John, etc. destroyed the chest high surf in front of tens of thousands- and it's not even the weekend yet. Check out the Dane Reynolds/Kolohe Andino/Julian Wilson heat above (with respect to the 4th surfer in the heat- Aritz Aranbaru- no one was focused on him- not even the judges). They went all out- except Dane who just freesurfed basically and still pulled off an 8 and a 9.
