Surf Check

Quick Surf Check today- it's easy when there's nothing out there! After a great weekend of W swell, we've got a little NW/SW combo in the water today for inconsistent waist high sets.

Water is a pleasant 63 degrees- pretty darn good for December- and the tides are 2' in the mornings, going up to almost 4' mid-afternoon and down slightly to 2' at sunset.
There's also some party cloudy to hazy sunshine in the skies today. Wind is currently W at 7. We get a little more low clouds/fog tomorrow then things start to clear out for the weekend. Models also show a weak offshore event for Sunday which means gusty winds in the valleys/foothills and slack winds at the coast which will turn N around 10mph after lunch.
But what about the surf? We start to get a little bump Thursday evening from some NW windswell and by Friday we should have chest high sets towards SD. Nothing exciting but it will be a foot or two bigger than today and will last into Saturday morning.
Further out we have some more NW windswell setting up but it won't show until next Wednesday. Unfortunately the charts aren't showing much out of the SW or NW so I don't expect good surf around town until next weekend at least- that's IF anything new forms on the charts early next week. So until then, get some Xmas shopping done!
