Surf Check

Nothing too exciting today. All that hot weather last weekend and good surf last week is gone.
Still have some fun little SW/NW in the water today with chest high sets. Wind is currently 3mph from the W. Those swells will be slowly dying through the week though and 4th of July is looking pretty flat around here.
Weather should cool off slightly too as the low clouds also increase slightly for partial afternoon clearing at the beaches and temps in the high 70's. The only real excitement is the 'tropical' clouds overhead from the surge in monsoon moisture from the desert southwest. No rain or lightening here at the beaches but it makes for some interesting skies. It looks like Hawaii around here without the 10' surf.
Water is still nice though with temps in the high 60's. Tides the next few days are about 3' at sunrise, down to 2' at lunch, and up to 5.5' at dinner.
So when are we getting some surf again? Well we can't count on Tropical Storm Dalila. Original reports had it hitting minimal hurricane status today but that was downgraded and she'll only hit winds of 65mph AND never hit our swell window. So scratch that. There is a little group of clouds behind her though that I'm hoping to turns into a hurricane AND hits our swell window later this week. If so, maybe we'll get a little swell from it early next week.

But in the near term we'll have to deal with a little N windswell that's forecasted to build later this week. Hoping for some waist high sets around here Saturday and chest high sets in SD.
From the southern hemisphere, we had a little storm flare up last week that should be pushing some chest high sets our way late Friday. With the little N also on the charts, we may have some fun chest high+ combo peaks on Saturday and Sunday.
Next week isn't looking that impressive unfortunately. If we don't get that hurricane surf mentioned above, then we'll have to rely on some small little storms in the southern hemisphere to shoot us something rideable. The models don't look that great but things can change in a few days of course. Keep your fingers crossed. Long story short- pretty small for the 4th but a fun combo swell this weekend and pretty flat for the beginning of next week!
