Surf Check

Small but not completely flat today. We've got 2 extreme angled swells in the water- one from the north at 325 degrees (anything over 300 has a hard time getting around Point Conception and into southern California) and a south that's coming from 170 degrees (anything less than 180 has a hard time getting into southern California too). We've got stomach high sets around town and it looks fun for a groveler. Of course the OC has some bigger sets from the S (but no N is really showing up there) and SD has some better sets from the N (but no S is really showing down there on the flip side). All in all looks kind of fun with the sun trying to break through the fog below and monsoon clouds above.
Tides the next few days are about 0' at sunrise, up to 4' at lunch, down to 2' late afternoon, and up to 4' again at sunset. Water temps are a pleasant 70 degrees.
Our weather has gotten an early start to summer. Usually we get monsoon moisture from Mexico/desert SW towards the end of July but we got it towards the end of June this year. Today we have more of the same with low clouds/fog at the beach and 'tropical' monsoon moisture overhead. Looks like we get a bigger surge towards Wednesday with models hinting at a slight chance of showers Wednesday night. Things start to return to normal next weekend with less monsoon moisture and typical night and morning low clouds at the beaches. Air temps will stay around 75 degrees.
As far as the surf forecast goes, we had a little storm form SSE of us which should give the OC some chest high waves towards Thursday and more waist high waves for us down here.
Nothing is really happening in the north Pacific unfortunately as charts show maybe a tiny knee high bump from NW windswell by Friday- maybe just enough to peak up the little S swell showing around the same time too.
After the upcoming slow weekend, we've got a solid storm on the charts that's forming today and should give us head high SW around next Tuesday. All in all some swells off and on the next few days. And if you're wondering about the tropics- we've had a couple storms lately down there but they've been under Baja and died when they hit the swell window- so nothing fun to report...
