Had yet another good day of surf today. We started off with some shoulder high sets from a NW groundswell/windswell then it kicked up a notch with overhead sets at sunset.
Been pretty good actually since... well, I don't remember when. We've had heaps of good surf in February and March so far. Sure seems like the flat months of December and January were a loooooong time ago. The current swell will back off tomorrow but we still should have head high sets in SD and chest to shoulder high waves here in north county.
Water temps are almost 63 degrees- unbelievable for late winter. And tides the next few days are about 5' at sunrise, down to 0' after lunch, and up to 4' at sunset.
We've got a few minor things happening with our weather this week (no rain unfortunately). Offshore winds are strengthening tonight and the OC will get the strongest winds around 25mph at the coast and 50mph in the hills. Down here in SD we'll have some mild offshore winds. The winds back off on Thursday then Friday afternoon through the weekend high pressure takes control again and the offshore winds turn up a notch. The rest of this week will have temps in the low 70's then this weekend it's close to 80. Not a bad combo with the coming surf...
Speaking of the surf, by Thursday we have some fading chest high sets from the NW then by Friday we get shoulder high sets from a new NW. On it's heels is another NW on Sunday in the same shoulder high size category.
We then get a good NW late Monday into Tuesday for overhead waves again. On it's heels is another similar sized NW for the middle of next week. And following that... we also have some storms on the charts in the southern hemisphere which would give us good SW the 3rd week of March. In a nutshell: Lots of surf the next 10 days and good weather for at least the next 7 days. That big storm 10 days ago seems like a distant memory.
