THE Surf Report- Early Edition

Exhale.

SURF:

Man was that a good run of surf. All the elements came together last week- solid surf, sunny skies, and warm temps. Today we had some NW windswell/groundswell for head high waves again and nice weather. Tomorrow the NW backs off for shoulder high sets and Saturday is left with chest high sets.

For Sunday we have more NW groundswell filling in for shoulder high sets BUT... models call for a cold front to move through the area late in the day. Get it early! Long story short, small Saturday and building swell Sunday with junky conditions.

Water temps are still in the mid-60's (pretty darn good for a La Nina winter) and tides the next few days are 3' at sunrise, 5' at lunch, and down to 1' at sunset.

FORECAST:
The NW from Sunday continues to build into Monday BUT... models continue the breezy weather and a chance of showers. So if you like stormsurf, you'll love the start to the work week. Look for head high+ sets on Monday and the surf starts to die Tuesday into Wednesday with better weather.

Forecast charts show another NW headed our way for Thursday into the weekend BUT... a chance of showers and breezy conditions again?! Regardless, don't expect 80 degree temps at the beach again and offshore winds.

WEATHER:

Great weather on tap for Friday/Saturday with light offshores in the AM and temps in the mid-70's. As advertised above, we may have our first real shot of showers towards Sunday evening into Monday. Weak high pressure sets up Tuesday/Wednesday for clear skies and temps near 70 and then maybe another shot at showers on Thursday. Are we finally going to start our rainy season? At least it's trying. Make sure to keep up to date on the changing weather at Twitter/North County Surf.

BEST BET:
Tough call since every time we're forecasted to get surf in the coming week, it's going to be accompanied by wind! With that said, hit it early Friday morning before the swell is gone and the showers move in on Sunday evening.

PIC OF THE WEEK:

What's not to love in this photo? Empy line up, offshore winds, long rights and lefts, unspoiled land. I'm also just going to thrown in there the water is probably trunkable too. Life isn't fair.

Keep Surfing,
