Surf Check

This might be the easiest Surf Check I've ever done. Ready? Here goes: It's flat. And it's going to be flat in the near future. You see, there wasn't any storms the past week that were aimed towards us, so we're in a swell drought right now.

In the near term, there's only feeble NW windswell on tap. Models show a tiny kick of waist high swell for SD county on Saturday and that's about it around here.
The southern hemisphere isn't doing much better as there are no organized storms forecasted to send us swell next week. There's one ok looking system just on the edge of our swell window but I'm really pushing it here. If we're lucky, there may be some waist high+ swell for the OC towards next Tuesday. And the tropics aren't helping much either as no storms are flaring up in the coming days.
If you're still reading this, then you're as addicted to waves and weather as much as I am. As far as the weather goes, there's a rather impressive looking storm in the NW for the month of August. Seattle should get about 1/4" of rain- which sounds like a winter day down here in SD. That storm moves through tomorrow in Washington and we'll get high pressure to our E building for sunnier skies around here and some tropical clouds overhead (about time). The weekend looks like the clouds fill back in again then high pressure sets up next week for nice weather. Kind of off again-on again.
Our tides the next few days (if you plan on diving 'cause I know you're not surfing) look to be about 2' at sunrise and rises to 5.5' in the late afternoon and drops to 2' again at sunset. Water temps are holding at 68 degrees. Long story short, there's nothing out there for at least a week so now's a good time to fix those dings.
