Surf Check

I'm taking a 'surfey' (i.e. a surfing survey). What would you rather have: Fun little surf with great weather or solid surf and stormy conditions?
Hope you said fun little surf and sun 'cause that's all we've had for weeks on end. Unfortunately it's been a little walled as there's no windswell to break up the groundswell, so points/reefs/jetties are your best bet. Which means those spots have been unbelievably crowded lately as no one wants to surf the walled beach breaks!
Tides are finally mellow around here though with 3' tides at 7am, down to 1' tides at 10am, and up to 3' at sunset. Water temps are still hovering at 58. With the nice weather a 3/2 fullsuit will suffice- but a 4/3 sure feels nice. That kind of rhymes.
As far as our weather goes, changes are in store. Not really, but we will get some fog tomorrow and Friday as a low pressure systems drifts by to our north and kicks up our clouds down here. Then high pressure kicks in yet again for the weekend into early next week which means no rain is in sight. And we really need it around here. Glad that desalination plant is being built in Carlsbad.
As far as our surf goes, the little NW groundswell today will hang around tomorrow and into Thursday before it gets a burst of some fairly healthy NW windswell on Friday. Charts actually show the Friday swell having some head high sets around town and overhead sets in south SD- and maybe some shape due to the unorganized shorter interval. Will the beach breaks be actually rideable again?!
That swell backs off pretty quickly on Saturday but by Sunday afternoon we get another NW swell arriving- this time groundswell- and from a fairly northerly direction. Look for chest high waves in north county SD and head high sets in southern SD. High pressure should be in control again so great weather and waves will be on tap for Sunday afternoon. Good combo.
