Surf Check

Can't beat the good weather and surf we've been having. And if you've got the tide swings figured out- like some mysto low tide reef you've been scoring the past few days- then it's been pretty darn good around here. Considering how bad November and December were, it's darn right magical right now.
Our current NNW swell peaked Monday night but there still were some shoulder high sets in town and head high+ waves in SD this morning before the tide bottomed out and drained the swell. Look for the current swell to back off the next few days and be pretty small by Friday.
Tides tomorrow are pretty extreme- about 6' just after sunrise and down to -1' in the late afternoon. Water temps are still 58.
No major changes in store for the weather but we do have a couple storms passing by to the far north that will break down the high pressure ridge over the weekend and may give us a little more clouds and cooler temps- but we'll still be above normal around here. Then high pressure sets up again for more sunny skies early next week. But there are some large storms out in the Pacific forecasted so hopefully by next weekend we finally see some winter weather around here.
So what's up with those large Pacific swells I mention above? Well the first swell generated by them should arrive on Monday morning for head high sets here and overhead waves in SD.
Then late Tuesday we get another shot of NW swell for shoulder high waves here and head high waves in SD. Right on it's heels is another NW swell being forecasted to give us overhead surf in north county and 10' surf in SD.
And if that wasn't enough, models show a beast wanting to form the middle of next week which would give us 10' surf here in north county and double overhead waves in SD by next weekend (the 25th/26th). It's still a loooooooooong ways away from even forming but it's nice to see the Pacific acting like it's winter finally. But as these forms take shape in the Pacific, there's always the chance they break down high pressure and we get rain along with these swells of course. Only time will tell!
