Had some fun S swell the past few days and it peaked yesterday. Today we have dying S swell but there's still inconsistent chest high sets around town and the OC luckily has head high sets. We've got a mixture of low clouds and monsoon moisture above and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we see the sun shortly.
Water temps are a warm 73 degrees and the tides are a mess; a negative 1' around sunrise, up to 5.5' at lunch, down to 0' before dinner, and up slightly to 3' at sunset.
Our weather is in a funk right now. We've got low pressure off Central California giving us mild weather and to the E is some tropical moisture. All in all expect low clouds and fog in the mornings, hazy sunshine in the afternoons, and air temps in the mid-70's at the beaches. Yawn.
Nothing major on the charts last week means no major surf for us this week. We did though have a couple little disorganized storms which will continue to give us chest high sets the next couple days. One little storm held together and sent chest high+ waves our way which will hit our shores the 2nd half of this week. NW windswell has been minimal too so don't expect the beach breaks to be peaky.
Hurricane activity as you know has been confined to the Hawaiian Island chain recently but we do have clouds taking shape off Mainland Mexico today. If everything comes together, we may get a hurricane in a couple days and maybe a shot of S swell from it late in the weekend.
Models show a good storm trying to form off New Zealand later this week and if it holds together we could see head high+ waves around the 24th of August. But that's a big IF. So until then, just some small S swells and mild weather around here.
