Surf Check 8/1/12

Got some small waves today from the SW for waist high surf around town. There's also a touch of knee high NW to give the sets a couple corners to surf.
Sun's out, water is 70, wind is SW at 7; kind of looks fun even though it's on the small side.
Tides are 0' at sunrise, 5' mid-morning, down to 1' mid-afternoon, and back up to 4' at sunset.
Weather is going to be nice the next few days too with less humidity, just night and morning low clouds at the beaches, and temps in the mid-70's. Typical summer. Actually, typical summer is June Gloom but we're past that fortunately.
On the horizon we have some small NW windswell building towards Friday for waist high sets in south SD county. That will meet up with a chest high SW in far north SD county and shoulder high sets in the OC (perfect timing for the US Open finals). Lots of peaks for everyone. Combo swell! With the nice weather and 70 degree water temps, the weekend should be fun. The SW actually gets a boost from activity about a week ago from the southern hemisphere and by Monday morning, we'll have shoulder high+ sets in far north county SD and overhead sets in the OC. Finally some fun SW swell around here.
The tropics are also trying to organize too. If anything happens, I wouldn't expect swell for at least another 5 days. It's about time though- been quiet down there for the last 2 weeks.
The southern hemisphere is trying to regroup again and there's a storm on the charts towards 8/7. That would give us a shoulder high straight S swell towards the middle of August. I'll keep an eye on it for ya...
