Surf Check 9/11/12

Small and ugly today. Like my first girlfriend. Just kidding Nancy. It is looking pretty feeble though. Only some background SW and NW for knee high waves most everywhere in southern California. And it's overcast too- first day in weeks it's been cloudy in the morning. Good news is that the water is still 70 and the sun should come out before lunch.

Tides the next few days are 4' at sunrise, 3' after lunch, and up to 5.5' at sunset.
The weather should be pleasant next couple of days with low clouds in the morning burning off to hazy afternoon sunshine and temps in the high 70's. We actually get a little warm up for Thursday/Friday with minimal clouds and temps in the low 80's. Saturday is about the same then the low clouds try to make a slight return on Sunday. All in all good beach weather through the weekend.
On the surf forecast front, we should have a little bump in the NW windswell towards Wednesday evening/Thursday morning as well as a little SW showing up. Fun peaky conditions will yield chest high waves most everywhere Thursday afternoon.

The chart above shows a little activity today in the southern hemisphere. That should give us more chest high surf towards late Sunday. No real NW on the charts though to break up the lines.

And we've got some activity in the tropics again but no swell producing storm yet. If it does get it's act together, we may have a storm in our swell window by Thursday and surf towards Sunday. Not expecting much though- maybe some chest high surf for the OC mixed in with the new SW too. All in all we should have some rideable surf the 2nd half of the week and good weather. Sounds good to me.
