Surf Check 9/5/12

I'm surfed-out. And I think the ocean is too. We have some fun waves today but it's off it's peak from this weekend. Spots around town are waist high+ with chest high+ waves in the OC. Basically just leftover SW and NW swells with a touch of S swell from Tropical Storm John. Water temps dropped slightly this weekend due to the W wind and churned up surf but they've rebounded again to 70 degrees. Not much wind today either. Nice day to get a little waves if you could sneak out...

Tides the next few days are 2' at sunrise, 5' after lunch, and down to 1' at sunset. And we had some interesting weather this morning with the remnants of Tropical Storm John passing overhead. No rain from it but cool to wake up and see the warm clouds passing through. Weather should stay nice the rest of the week with temps in the high 70's and 'tropical' monsoon clouds passing by. Looks like low clouds may return to the nights and mornings but that may not be until late Sunday or Monday.
Not much in the way of surf in the coming week (unless the tropics off Mexico come alive this weekend). We've just got some small NW windswell for waist high waves in SD towards Sunday.
And it's not looking much better in the southern hemisphere either. We had a storm flare up today down there but it was aimed mostly east to west and any resulting swell will be pretty southerly- bypassing much of San Diego County. If the OC gets any of it, that won't be until the 11th/12th. Until then, enjoy the great weather this weekend!
