Boardz N The Hood: Episode 3: It's All Water In Some Form Or Another

Today's episode of Boardz N The Hood is brought to you by someone I've known his whole life. Which shouldn't be surprising since it's my son Alex Glenn. Alex loves water in some form or another. He was part of the varsity water polo and swim teams at San Dieguito Academy, been surfing since he was 3, and his headed to Montana this fall to snowboard on the frozen stuff (actually, it's to study at Montana State but I'm sure he'll get his priorities straight). Alex is your typical Encinitas teenager- if it floats- he'll ride it. Doesn't matter if it's a Beater board, a Tomo that looks like a fat snowboard, or just to paint an old board for fun, he's game. Here's what floats his boat:

Alex Glenn bio:
  • Age: 17
  • Height: 5'11
  • Weight: 140
  • Years surfing: 14
  • Favorite spot: Boneyards
  • Favorite board: 5'0" Firewire Slater Designs Tomo Cymatic (from Camp Shred!)
Quiver:

  • 4'6" Catch Surf Beater

  • 4'10" INT

  • 5'4" Firewire Tomo Evo

  • 5'10" Channel Island K Whip

    • The surf x snow connection is nothing new. From Jeremy Jones collaborating with Chris Christenson, to Matt Biolos experimenting with Lib Technologies, to Channel Islands joining the Burton family almost 15 years ago, it's all based on a fascination with storms bringing us the joy of waves or powder. Alex continues the tradition in 2020 and beyond with the Tetons in winter and Trestles in the summer.
