Surf Check 12/13/11

Got some fun surf today with clean conditions. Unfortunately the water is filthy after the almost 1 inch of rain we got yesterday.

Look for chest high+ waves today from the SW and NW with not much wind on it yet.

The low pressure system is right above us this morning so we may keep the wind at bay through mid-day with a couple lingering showers.

The weather cleans up tomorrow but the swells drop. Good news is that the north Pacific has been active the past few days and we should get another chest high bump form the NW towards Friday. Rumor has it there is cold front headed our way- albeit weaker- but we may get a slight shot of showers towards Friday. Then the main low pressure system should follow behind it this weekend but take an inland track resulting in cold winds like we had last week. Hopefully it sets up shop in just the right spot where we get cold NE offshore winds again.

Surf this weekend will be on the small side but charts are showing a solid NW for Tuesday. Best spots in south SD will have overhead+ sets.

The south Pacific hasn't died yet either- we keep getting these background waist to chest high swells from the SW. Unfortunately the dominant NW tends to dampen the smaller S surf but at least it gives some hope for south OC. We should get another small S next Tuesday (if you can see it underneath the bigger NW) and another one towards the Xmas holiday. Can't complain.

Tides the next few days are  4' at sunrise, 6' at 10am, and -1' at sunset. And water temps are in the high 50's and dropping! Go buy that 4/3 now before it's too late!
