Had some fun swell on Sunday and Monday though. The storm that blew through on Saturday left in it's wake some overhead NW surf and offshore winds in the AM. That swell has since backed off during the week. Today we're just left with inconsistent waist high NW with maybe a stomach high set in SD. Tomorrow is more of the same unfortunately but at least the weather will be nice.
The storm that rolled through this weekend left behind 1/3" of rain and high pressure in it's wake. Tomorrow look for more clear skies and warm temps in the low 80's at the beaches. That will hang around through Friday and then it starts to cool this weekend. But we'll still have sunny skies and temps in the mid-70's. Low clouds may return early next week but no rain in the foreseeable future.
Nothing impressive on the charts unfortunately for the rest of the week. Just some background SW headed our way for the weekend as well as a little NW. Hopefully Saturday and Sunday we'll have chest high combo surf. Hurricane Vance was a star for Cabo but a dud for us as he never hit our swell window. Tonight he's about to roll through mainland Mexico and we can forget about any hope of surf from it.
Models show some more small NW aimed at us for Tuesday of next week and maybe a slightly better NW on Thursday but neither look all that good. At this point in time, both will be in the waist high range with chest high sets- possibly bigger in SD.There's more NW on the charts in the long term- maybe mid-month- but it's a long way from forming so I won't believe it until a week or so from now. Long story short- just some small smalls headed our way in the near term.
Ever since the storm blew through this weekend, the NE, N, and NW winds have been blowing; not good for our water temps. No complaints though- we're still in the mid to upper 60's. Tides are all over the place though; look for 5' tides around sunrise, up to 6.5' at 8am, dropping like a rock to -1' at 2pm, and up to 2' at sunset. Have a good week and good luck wave hunting!
