New North County Business News: Opening Up Pandora's Box

No, this isn't another story about Wal Mart coming to town and all the expected issues. This is a good story- about a much needed pizza joint in Leucadia (and you can't count Leucadia Pizzeria since that's in downtown Encinitas now). Pandora's Pizza is under construction in Leucadia Plaza- the building just directly south of Leucadia Blvd. and the 101. Can't miss the plaza- bright salmon color structure and also housing Progression Surf Shop.

Owner Eric Phleger has had the location for the past 10 years- first as a mortgage business and recently as an art gallery. But what the area really needed was pizza and he's tackling that niche. Considering Mexican food and coffee shops have filled the void, Pandora's Pizza should be busy. Especially after a solid session at Beacon's- grabbing a slice and a soda will be a good call. The interior is unique as it has a main seating area and also an upstairs (which Eric thinks may turn out to be a quieter, private eating area) as well as a bar- and a few TV's to watch the Chargers (if you haven't jumped off the bandwagon yet). It's looking to be a clean family restaurant vs. the bar and grill crowd. Eric is currently building out the interior as well as working on permits so it should be towards December when he opens his doors. Make sure to keep an eye out for the official opening and grab a pitcher and a slice. Or a pizza pie and a pint. You get my drift.

In other North County Business News, looks like 'Coffee Coffee' is officially opening tomorrow! JP at Surfy Surfy won't actually say what the name is (he'll tell everyone tomorrow) but locals are calling it Coffee Coffee anyway. It's going to be tough to call it anything else. Regardless, it's looking to be a good spot to take the family for a cup of joe and a muffin so make sure to head on down there this weekend. They're aiming for the hours of 6AM to 6PM so there's no excuse to not make it down there and give 'em your support and get wired on caffeine in the process!
