Surf Check 11/1/11

We've gone from great weather and a small SW last week to foggy skies and a new small NW. Beaches around town are waist high with almost chest high sets while south SD is picking up the swell better with chest high+ surf.

The winds are light out of the south at 3 and tides are about 3' at sunrise, 5' after lunch, and 1' at sunset.

Buoys up north are showing showing some 12'-15' readings (the Rip Curl contest at San Fran should be good later today/tomorrow) and we should have some fun head high sets ourselves on Wednesday- with overhead sets in south SD.

The real good news is that a front is moving through Nevada and we'll be on the tail end- a recipient of offshore winds tomorrow. Combined with the new fun NW swell, tomorrow should be a surf day. We then have another front moving through late Thursday/Friday- this time on the coast, so showers are forecasted for our area. Nothing major but maybe some 15mph+ SW wind and a 1/4" of rain. On it's tail is another NW for late Friday into Saturday. Conditions should clean up Saturday and the NW will peak. This one looks a little bigger then the swell tomorrow so expect some overhead sets on Saturday with 8'+ faces in south SD. There is also some small background SW moving through the Pacific today and it should show towards Saturday. Nothing big but waist high+ for the OC. Between the good weather Wednesday/Saturday and the new swells- should be a fun week of surf.
